These books are known for their readability, originality, clarity and personal type. Experienced, entertaining and gifted seminar presenters, they travel extensively offering Enneagram seminars and professional training programs that certify others to teach their material. Teachers of personal growth issues since the mid-1970s, they have brought contemporary and ancient wisdom to hundreds of thousands of people throughout the United States, Canada and Australia, and their students come from all over the world to attend their programs.
Their audio cassette series on the Enneagram, The Hurley/Donson Enneagram Experience® Seminar, has been called best in its field, and their two latest releases, Heart Intelligence: Where Science and Spirituality Meet and Activating Your Deep Heart Energy, are sought after for their personal, practical and penetrating analysis of how our attitudes, feelings and actions can either support or undermine interpersonal relationships. They have been featured presenters at every annual conference of the International Enneagram Association since the first one in 1994 at Stanford University.
As leaders in the international Enneagram community, they helped to found the International Enneagram Association and served on its first board of directors. Theodorre was the second president of IEA (1996) and the founding editor of the IEA Newsletter, while Kathy has served as IEA's first Secretary and director of its 1997 Second International Enneagram Conference.
Hurley and Donson are not only leaders in developing the Enneagram but also forerunners promoting change in the system. They see each type’s underlying configurations of the three intelligences (thinking, feeling and doing); they relate the Enneagram to soul development; they link the Enneagram to the Kabbalah; they connect the Enneagram with Jungian psychology; and they proclaim the non-violence implications of the Enneagram.
In their book, Discover Your Soul Potential, they present their Breakthrough Enneagram, which both simplifies and deepens the system by presenting the nine types visually as nine different composites of the three centers of intelligence — thinking, feeling, and doing.
Personally, they enjoy their family (three children and spouses, and four grandsons), their own relationship, traveling by van to their speaking engagements (in North America) and a good laugh. Their passion is personal and societal transformation through non-violent inner work.
Theodorre Donson, M. Div. is an internationally recognized lecturer and author in the area of psychology and spirituality. In his holistic approach, Donson draws upon the spiritual masters and leading psychologists while stressing the importance of personal renewal and healing for all people in this turbulent transition time as a millennium begins.
The Dictionary of International Biography (Volume XIX), The Who’s Who of Intellectuals (Volume VI), and Men of Achievement (Eleventh Edition), are among several international reference works in which Donson is listed (under his former name, Theodore Dobson). In the 1970s and 1980s he wrote some of the first books in the now popular field of healing the inner child, and he has traveled internationally teaching the wisdom of inner healing and the Enneagram.
Kathy Hurley has been teaching on various aspects of personal change throughout North America since the early 1980s. Co-founder and for ten years co-director of a personal growth resource center in Denver, Colorado and for over three decades devoting herself to community leadership, she has pursued her passion to awaken the human spirit to reclaim its destiny and arouse the human soul to exercise its freedom and greatness.
An artist, musician and songwriter, Hurley considers her contributions to the world of the Enneagram as the crowning achievement of a life that has been dedicated to the pursuit of healing and transformation for herself and others.
